[hōbi meets artists] oneheart - It’s Okay Without a Plan, Just Follow Your Heart

The colourful embroidered flowers, infused with the playful spirit of Pop Art, leave a lasting impression at first glance.

This is the unique charm of handmade artist oneheart.

The seemingly simple flower shapes are the result of countless trials and adjustments. It takes time to find just the right balance between colour, size and every individual line.

A lover of handmade goods and lifestyle雑貨, Japanese embroidery brand oneheart initially began by selling her creations at a café near her home. Little did she know that what started as a spontaneous passion would, before she knew it, become a seven-year journey.

When asked how she first became a handmade artist, oneheart smiles softly.

“Honestly… I’ve forgotten how I became a handmade artist.”

After thinking for a moment, she continues:

“One day, a design suddenly popped into my head. I quickly sketched it down, and then I just started making it.”

There was no particular plan, nor had she decided how far she wanted to take it. Just a sudden idea, a pair of willing hands, and the desire to bring that idea to life.

And so, one step at a time, she has continued creating until today.

Along the way, she also tried making accessories using resin and metal. Each material has its own character, but in the end, it was embroidery that continued to draw her in.

“Embroidery has a certain warmth to it. And I love that I can leave a little bit of myself in every stitch. There’s something about it that other materials simply can’t replace.”

And so, embroidery stayed. Little by little, it became the heart of oneheart’s creative work.

Recently, she has also made a small change to her creative space.

After using the drawers at her work desk for many years, she decided it was time to give them a makeover. A familiar space now has a slightly different look, bringing a little freshness to those moments when she sits down to create.

A small change of scenery, and a little refresh for herself.

色とりどりの刺繍のお花に、Pop Artの遊び心を巧みに取り入れたデザイン。一目見ただけで、思わず心に残る印象的な作品です。

それが、ハンドメイド作家 oneheart ならではの魅力。

一見シンプルに見えるお花の輪郭も、理想のバランスにたどり着くまで、何度も試作と調整を重ねています。色、サイズ、そして一本一本のライン。そのひとつひとつを確かめながら、ようやく「これだ」と思える形を見つけていきます。

ハンドメイドの雑貨や暮らしの小物が好きだった oneheart。最初は、自宅の近くにあるカフェで作品を販売するところから始まりました。

誰もが予想していなかったかもしれません。その気軽な気持ちで始めたものが、気づけばもう7年。

「どうしてハンドメイド作家になったのか……実は私も忘れちゃいました。」

そう言って、少し考えてから続けます。

「ただ、ある日ふっと頭の中にデザインが浮かんで、思いついたままに下書きをして、それから作り始めたんです。」

特別な計画があったわけでもなく、どこまで続けようと決めていたわけでもない。ただ、ふと浮かんだひとつのアイデアと、それを形にしてみたいという気持ち。

その小さなきっかけから、ひとつ、またひとつと作品を作り続け、今の oneheart へとつながっていきました。

これまでに、レジンや金属を使ったアクセサリーにも挑戦したことがあります。

素材によって、それぞれ違った表情があります。

それでも最後に心を惹かれたのは、やっぱり刺繍でした。

「刺繍には、あたたかみがあるんです。それに、一針一針に自分らしさを残せるところも好き。ほかの素材では代えられない魅力があります。」

そうして刺繍は、少しずつ oneheart のものづくりの中心になっていきました。

最近では、いつもの制作空間にも小さな変化を加えたそう。

長く使っていた作業机の引き出しを、思い切ってリニューアル。

見慣れた場所を少しだけ新しくすることで、机に向かったときの気分も少し変わります。

気分転換をして、自分自身をリフレッシュさせているそうです。
